Charlotte Ouisconsin Van Cleve (b.1819 - d.1907). Charlotte S. Van Cleve ran for School Director, East Division Minneapolis in 1876 and won.
Horatio P. Van Cleve (b.1809 - d.1891) was a Civil War Union Brigadier General. He ran for Mayor of St. Anthony in 1866 and St. Anthony School Director in 1868, 1869 & 1871. He lost all four of these elections.
Van Cleve Park, at 901 15th Ave SE, was named for both Charlotte & Horatio Van Cleve in 1895 (formerly known as Second Ward Park).
Horatio's grandson with the same name served as a 2nd ward alderman in Minneapolis. He was elected in 1933, 1937 & 1941. He lost re-election in 1945 to Dale M. Stanchfield.
