An excerpt provided by Lois Skinner on Tuttle School (date unknown): "Tuttle School was built in 1911. It was grey brick on the outside, and inside it as concrete and tile in the halls and concrete in the rooms. The stairs were all iron and the hall floors were covered with cork surfacing. It was well built and fire proof. It was two stories high and had eight classrooms, and auditorium, a gymnasium, a cooking room, a manual training room, a sewing room, a library, an engine room, and a storeroom. There was a fire extinguishing system throughout the building. Therewere three portable buildings on the ground. Two of these consisted of one room each and the other had two rooms. The building was redone in 1926. Remodeling started again in 1979 and finished in January of 1981. The building now houses Tuttle and Marcy."
