The Tuttle-Columbus Neighborhood report

“The Tuttle-Columbus Neighborhood: The report of a community study, carried on co-operatively by the Department of Sociology of the University of Minnesota, and the people of a growing community in Southeast Minneapolis” was completed in 1922 by Manuel C. Elmer, Director of Study, Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Minnesota.

Excerpts from "Summary of the Communities' Suggestions on Education" on page 51:
  • ". . .Tuttle School needed a larger and more adequate library, including more books for adults"
  • ". . . there should be more co-operation between Columbus and Tuttle Schools"
  • "In regard to the Columbus School there seemed to be considerably more criticism than in the case of the Tuttle School."
  • ". . . a total of twenty-five objected to the present location of Columbus School"
